Legal Question in Criminal Law in Canada

What is moral turpitude? can you provide a list of offences that would be considered, "Moral Turpitude" I'm trying to figure out if my single Canadian Summary conviction will prevent me from entering the US without a waiver. Yes, I have a Pardon. Yes, I know the US doesn't recognize it. That is why I MAY need a US Waiver.

Thanks

You do not say what your conviction was for. I can surmise enough that you already know that there is a single crime exception for crimes of moral turpitude where the maximum punishment does not exceed 12 months. See golishlaw.com/crimlawt/usinaddm.htm. Most summary conviction offences are punishable by a maximum of six months, but there are a number where the maximum is 18 months.

This is something I can do, if you are interested: My recommendation would be to have a qualified lawyer review your record and if he or she determines you are not inadmissible, prepare a letter of opinion that you can present on crossing the border. You can try to convince a border officer of the correctness of your position, but a lawyer letter will carry a lot more weight.
