Legal Question in Family Law in India

1. WRT Domestic Violence Act, after filing the FIR at the Police Station, at what stage or after roughly how many days/months the Case reaches the Court Level when the Court Proceedings start?

2. WRT the above, for pleading the Case in the Court of Law, is it mandatory to hire a Lawyer, or, One can plead the Case by herself/by her Parents?

the DV case is never filed in the police station but in the court of the magistrate.It comes up for hearing immediately but to reach the final stage it takes time. You do need a lawyer because technicalities are best understood by the lawyer. the otherside will hire a lawyer and being a layman you will do more harm to yopur case than good. If you have a financial problem you can get a lawyer free of cost from the legal aid in your copurt. for further clarification call 9312411481.
