Legal Question in Family Law in Guyana

At age 16 I moved in with a man who was separated from his yet. I got pregnant then he left me to take his wife back. I moved in back with my parents while the child's father supported him financially. This man was very possessive and controlling over my life even though he left me. Anyways I met someone and has a stable and happy relationship and has a daughter . My son father wants me back since his wife is no longer alive . He is creating lots of problems for me , calling my husband, my in laws , telling lies about me , he wants me to stay away from my son unless I agree to move in back with him. I took my son father to the probation officer and they ruled that the father keeps the child and I have visitation on weekends because I am married and I am not working and they do not want to place the child with a step parent . Now the child father has no good living to give this child . He is always in the courts accused for one thing or the other . He sometimes be under the influence of alcohol and would be driving on the road very reckless with this said child . Now I would like to know what do I do to get my child ? I only want what is best for this child . I would never hurt my child . He is only five years old. He is still my baby. Every night I go to sleep wondering where he is at and if he is safe . Sorry that my story is so long . Waiting for your answer. Thank you

The probation officer has no authority to make an order as to who should have the child. You need to consult a lawyer who will review the case. The courts look at the best welfare of the child in determining who has custody.
