Dear Sir,

It seems that you mistakenly typed 2017.

Our understanding is that you are a Lebanese national and got married to a British girl in Cyprus.

You are residing in Lebanon whereas she is living in the UK. You want to divorce her, and are wondering if you can start the proceedings in Lebanon.

The answer is yes. The Lebanese civil Courts has jurisdiction to rule on your divorce. In fact it would be better for you to initiate the process in Lebanon in terms of cost. Moreover, if you start the proceedings in Lebanon, there is a chance that the UK courts decline their jurisdiction in that case.

As for the marriage certificate, it would be easy to get a copy of it if your marriage was registered in Lebanon.
