Legal Question in Family Law in India

i am the only son of my father, my mother died when i was 6 years old, now i am 32 years old. My father did a second marriage in which there is no children. My father passed away last year 2013 without a will. my step mother is now along with her family members are trying to corner me. My step mother is asking for partition. The house and the land on which it is build is on ancestral property. Is there any way the property be kept unpartitioned as i fear if she take the share she will definitely leave it to her family members ( her brothers and sisters). please suggest.

she is entitled for the partition. you can offer to buy her share.
