Legal Question in Intellectual Property in

I have an idea for a website which I believe could generate significant revenue but am unable to build the website myself. Is their any way I can get legal protection for my idea? Also, if I am to approach a software engineer, what is there to stop them from taking my idea and then building the website for themselves such was the case with facebook? Finally, if a confidentiality agreement is signed then what prevents that person from secretly telling a friend the idea and then them developing it for themselves?
