Legal Question in Real Estate Law in India

I have bought a land in West Bengal in 2009 from a man who has got power of attorney from the land owner. Now, two people coming from one nationalized bank is saying that the land owner had taken a loan mortgaging the land on 2002. I've already build a house on that land for residential purpose and will be shifting there in coming months. The man who has the power of attorney is saying that he has no idea about this mortgaging thing. Now I want your help badly to know what should be my next step from a legal perspective. Will the bank be able to seal the land? I've invested all my earnings of life for this home. Please help me.I'll be happy to provide you more information if you feel so.
