Stepchildren & Brothers' Rights Relative to Property/Assets

I married a widower who had 2 kids whom I accepted even before we got married. After a year of our marriage, I found out that he had 2 more illegitimate kids. These 4 children are carrying their father's name and living together in one roof. Until now, my husband and I don't have a child. We both worked hard and we were able to obtain property, investments and cash savings. Do these 4 children have rights to claim a part of our assets when either one of us expires? Do my own brothers have rights to inherit something in case I expire?

Re: Stepchildren & Brothers' Rights Relative to Property/Assets

The rights of persons to claim against an estate are set forth under state law. You should consult with an attorney in your state who has experience in this area and request a written opinion of the rights of the persons that you describe.
