Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Alabama

I am 19 and my exboyfriend is 17. he is on my sons birth certificate but he may not be my sons father. my ex ran off with my son and will not let me know where my son is and how he is doing. my ex had wrote me a message on myspace telling me that my son was dead and that i would never know where he is and i would never see him again. my ex had also said that my son had a new mother. what should i do and will my ex get in to trouble for his actions and words. also my ex's mother has been collecting social security on my ex for years and he has not been in school. what would happen to her if i reported it?
