Is there any recourse against a writer who uses actual real name of an individual in a book without prior notice or permission?

There aren't that many original names left in the world, and you'd have to prove they were not only using your name, but that it was in reference to you.

Logically, the answer is "no," particularly if the book is describing actual events in a truthful manner.
