Re: renter wil not move trailer

I do not handle landlord/tenant cases, but I believe you would have a landlord lien, under Alabama law, on the property to cover the owed rent. Obviously, your lease language may address this issue if you have a formal lease. You would not want to do anything with the trailer until you are sure you have complied with every legal technicality; otherwise, you could give the owner of the trailer a claim for conversion. If you would like to speak with an attorney in Alabama who handles nothing but landlord/tenant issues, you may call Roy West at (205) 251-8151 or David Chastain at (205) 328-6845.

READ YOUR LEASE. It should provide for your rights under these circumstances. If fo some strange reason, it does not, you can charge the former tenant storage. When the storage reaches the value of the property, you can take the property as abandoned by the former tenant and sell it in payment of your owed rent, but READ YOUR LEASE!!!!!!!!!!!
