Credit Card gone to Collections

my credit card was bought by another credit card company and now it has been charged off due to nonpayment for 3 months.that is my fault but now it has been turned over to a collection agency that will not even give me their mailing address and want a settlement of 1/2 but will not send a letter saying this untill they get the money. what can they do if i don't send them the money? they cannot even give me a statement of the charges.

I would contact the credit card company directly and see about working with them. Also, I would send a letter to the collection agency telling them that you are disputing the debt and demand an itemization of the debt and verification in writing.
