settlement

I cosigned with my daughter for a car. The car was totaled and the insurance had lapsed. I have tried to reach an agreement with the finance co. but they states their legal dept. doesn't want to settle at this time. This has gone on for almost a year. What else can I do. I cannot paid the total balance, but will take the responsibility for half of the remaining amount.

You should let a lawyer review the documents. Often there are lending law violations in used car transactions and these can be used to your benefit. Call several lawyers until you find one that will give you a free consultation.
