Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Alabama

Does wife have right to sign my name to application?

My husband's ex-wife signed his name to a credit card application, unbeknowest to him. 3 years after the divorce he recieves an overdue bill. He was then made to pay this bill by an attorney for the CC company. The CC company still reports this bill as being open and unpaid on his credit report, when it was paid in full. His ex was listed as the primary cardholder. He could not even make payment arrangements. What I want to know is, did my husband have to pay this bill? Can you be forced to pay a bill when you did not sign for it?

Please give me a call, and I will be glad to discuss this with you. I would rather discuss it by phone since it can get rather complicated, and we would go back and forth via e-mail.

Sincerely,

Jon E. Lewis
