Legal Question in Criminal Law in Alabama

domestic violence charge

My husband came in drunk and I called the sherriff's office. My husband went in my son's room, which made my son angry because of him being drunk and he told him to leave. After some words were said my son hit my husband and came out of his room yelling for me. My husband in the meantime went outside and I understood my son to say that he tried to choke him. The deputy came out and we filled out a report. I told him about the incident and told him that he tried to choke my son. He was charged with domestic violence and harrassment 3rd and went to jail. I later was told by my son that his father had not tried to choke him and that he is the one that hit his father because he was in his room and drunk. He was upset, I was upset and there was a lot happening so I guess I just misunderstood. My husband, in 16 years of marriage has never hit any of us and that was the first time in our marriage anything like that had happened. I want to know what I can do to have charges dropped and have this whole thing corrected without having to put my son through anymore or have to go to court. Please Help

Re: domestic violence charge

you need to hire an attorney to try and intervene on your behalf with the prosecutor and the court. you should not try to do this by yourself.
