Re: language

People can and do get arrested for things as trivial as that in Alabama, but getting arrested is not the same as getting convicted. It is shockingly easy to walk into a police station and sign a misdemeanor warrant to have some arrested for trivial offenses. However, getting arrested for a crime is not the same as getting convicted of a crime, and a charge like that is certainly something that should be fought in court. There are numerous defenses that can be raised, depending on how the charge has been filed and depending on the specific circumstances of the case. Most of the defenses revolve around your freedom of speech protected in the Constitution, but there are other ways to challenge a charge like that as well.

If you have been charged with an offense for something like this, make sure to go see an attorney immediately. You need to plan your defense, and an experienced criminal defense lawyer will know the issues to argue to get this charge dismissed. Do not think that you can just show up to court and handle it yourself, or you may find yourself with a criminal conviction for harassment, harassing communications, menacing, or whatever other way they may have tried to charge you with this. Do not let your rights get trampled by a lack of knowledge. See an attorney so you can fight this in court.

Our firm operates a statewide criminal defense practice, with offices located in Anniston (Calhoun County) and Foley (Baldwin County). If we can be of any assistance, please let us know.
