Legal Question in Elder Law in Alabama

Elder law

What can you do to have someone with alzheimer's committed to a facility when they become a danger to themselves, and others? I've talked to her children, to no avail...and this poor woman lives alone. I have spoken to a judge about this issue, and am told there is nothing that can be done.

Re: Elder law

Involuntary committment for observation is the way to go. The Probate Judge in Lamar County can have her taken into custody for observation and diagnosis which will possibly lead to having her committed to a nursing home and then you need Medicaid to pay for it. I can't speak about Sulligent lawyers and their familiarity with Medicaid so you might need to get the Elder Law Clinic at the U of Alabama involved.
