Legal Question in Elder Law in Alabama

In the state of Alabama who has the most responsibility/authority in matters regarding care for someone with dementia? Is it the wife? Do the children have a legal responsibility or authority? If there is a dispute between the spouse and the children how is this commonly resolved?

If and when there is a dispute, a motion with the probate court for a guardianship and conservatorship must be instituted. That way the probate court will decide who will be responsible for caring for the incompetent person. Good luck
