Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

My husband and I want to adopt a baby girl. Her mother is more than willing to give her up but the father won't sign her over. However, he doesn't want the child either. He has nothing to do with her and threw the mother and child out. (they were not married). Is there any thing that can be done on our part or the mother's part to force the father to either take the child or sign away his rights?

You can petition the court to terminate his parental rights. That is all you can do.
