Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

my husband left me for his old girlfriend without warning after 24 years. He disappeared and called days later. He still has not said where he is but has admitted to our son that he is living with this woman. He is now angry that I contacted a lawyer and while she is filing papers, I am very scared and concerned for him breaking into the house, changing our health insurance and a multitude of things he can do vindictively while the papers are being processed and he is not yet served. What can I do to protect myself our home and property?
