Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

Motion for Reduction

I recently seperated from the military and am attending school full time. Prior to seperation I went through the paternity/support process and while in court, I addressed the fact that I would be seperating and attending school and my income would be a fraction of what it currently was. I was told that in October it would be reset. My lawyer at that time failed to file the paperwork even though he told me he had. He failed to show for court and I fired him. I need to know what I need to do for the motion for reduction or If I can do this myself. My support is currently set at $700/mo for one child.

Re: Motion for Reduction

You file a petition to reduce child support, usually if your income has reduced by 10% or more, they will grant your petition for a reduction. Of course you can TRY to do it without a lawyer, but you will not have as much access to the attorney for the mother and the Judge.
