Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Alabama

Rights to my Name

My sister has published a memoir in which she uses all names of myself and my brothers and sisters, despite knowing we did not approve. She also claims the book is a true accounting of certain facts we know are not to be true. Do we have any claim to money she makes through the use of our names in this "memoir". She insists she has talked to her publisher and there is nothing we can do.

Re: Rights to my Name

there are causes of action for slander in alabama and perhaps others that may apply to your situation. there is a statute of limitation by which an action must be brought or it is forever lost. you need to consult with an attorney face to face and give him/her all of the facts and possibly erroneous information so that he/she can evaluate the matter.
