Legal Question in Employment Law in Alabama

Last Paycheck

If 12/31/02 is the last pay period in the year for a company and if an employee makes that day their last day working will that be the last paycheck that employee receives from their former employee? I must also mention that the pay is in the form of a semi monthly pay schedule for an hourly employee and the weeks the 12/31 paycheck covers is the first two weeks in December. What happens to the last two weeks and two days in the month? Must the company pay the employee for their remaining time on the job or is the 12/31 the employee's final pay because of the way the pay schedule for the company ends on the last day of the month/year?

Thanks.

Re: Last Paycheck

I apologize for the delay in posting, but have been terribly busy. What you have described is completely and utterly illegal. It happens all the time and I have had the pleasure of suing quite a few companies for this violation. I would be delighted to talk to you further about this, please call me at 205-458-1100 at your earliest convenience.

Thank you,
