Legal Question in Employment Law in Alabama

Repayment of relocation bonus, if company loses contract

I was recently hired with a big IT company based in Alabama, to work on a contract (in Calif.) that has been in place for several years. Now it looks as though they're going to lose the contract, and all us contractors that work with this company will be forced to change to the new company the Government is choosing to go with. Question is I received a moving (relocation) bonus when hired. The agreement was to stay with the company 1 year, but I can't (through no fault of mine) because they can't keep their contract. And, I'm forced to switch companies or loose the job I came here for. Am I still responsible?

Difficult to say without reading the contract, but probably not if the contract was impossible for you to complete, through no fault of your own.
