Legal Question in Employment Law in Alabama

Are strip club managers allowed to get physical??!

I have been working for a club for a few months now and last night was fired after having a dispute with another dancer, which I understand is grounds for dismisal...BUT did this club manager have the right to grab me by my hair, throw my trunk of belongings out the front door along with ME without letting me get dressed first? I was literally thrown out into the parking lot with just a skirt on and no top or anything else. I am also curious as to what the laws are here in ALabama as far as employees that live off tips alone. Are clubs allowed to legally FINE us?

NO. You could file criminal charges against the manager. However, he could argue that you were the one being violent and he had to pull you off the other dancer and that he just had to separate you too. Your post is not clear on these facts. However, you may have a sexual harassment charge against him, if there are more than 16 employees at the club total. The manager also cannot take your tips. Those are yours. You may have a wage complaint if he does.

Of course, law and reality can be two different things. Alabama is not very kind to employees in general, and they can be especially hard on some kinds of employees more than others. There may be other legal avenues for you to pursue - filing a complaint with the police about what happened may be the first step. There may be pressure in the community to shut this business down and you may use that to your advantage.

Good luck, but be careful - strip club owners are not the most ethical of Alabama businessmen - and it wouldn't surprise me if they tried some seriously dirty tricks.
