Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in Alabama

Lousy Attorney

I filed for a divorce in the state of alabama and hired and attorney before i left the state. This man never filed for discovery of assets, and my ex walked off with everything. I paid the attorney upfront. (His requirement)

He refuses to return calls, will not fight for what was awarded me. I do not have the money to go out and hire another attorney. This attorney is now the county prosocuter. This was a very small town, and my ex was a ''homeboy'', but does that give the court or the attornies the right to not do what is right?

Re: Lousy Attorney

I'm sorry for your bad experience with your divorce attorney, and his representation of you sounds deficient. At the same time, it is not unusual for an "out-of-towner" to get what we used to call "home cookin'."

If you cannot afford to hire an attorney to investigate a malpractice suit, I suggest you contact the county or state bar association in Alabama and find out about filing a disciplinary complaint.

Good luck.

Paul
