Legal Question in Personal Injury in Alabama

If someone knows that her horse has gotten out of the pasture and does nothing about it and the horse runs into a car who is at fault? She tells the police she had no idea the horse was out but she had just told the person that her horse hit her car that someone had stopped and told her the horse was out.

Depends. If there is a local law or ordinance stating that livestock must NOT be allowed to roam free, then the owner has potential liability. You need to determine whether the actual accident occurred in a city or municipality and then whether such a law exisits. Alabama is historically a "free range" state and livestock causing accidents does not create liability on the owner.
