if I owe back taxes on a house in the state of Alabama, how long do I have before they can forclose on it?

The revenue department will take a tax lien on the property, and some other third party will pay the taxes and take the property. The property must be deliquent three years before anyone can get a tax lien certificate on the property. I assume you are talking about property tax, but can't b e sure. You will never get clear title to your property unless you pay the tax and interest and any other penalty. You are at risk of losing the property if you don't pay the taxes. You will lose the property if you neglect this.
