Legal Question in Traffic Law in Alabama

Madison AL, Speed Trap? Any options?

I recently got a speeding ticket in Alabama. I was cited going 42 in a 25 (residential) zone. I'm not sure why this rode is zoned residential and no-one drives 25. I wasn't in a hurry or anything I was just driving a safe reasonable speed. I checked and it is posted (Residential 25MPH unless otherwise posted) on the road. I just didn't notice the sign and didn't even think I was speeding.

I would just pay the ticket but I have a new motorcycle (not what I was speeding in) and want to do everything I can to keep the insurance on it down (I'm 24 and until I turn 25 the insurance is absurd on it). Is there anything a lawyer can do to help me get something like this dismissed or in anyway not have it reported for insurance. I would go to traffic school but on a $130 ticket paying $145 for traffic school seems silly.

I'm just a little upset b/c I felt like this was a fund raising effort and not a safety issue. Because of that I would gladly pay lawyer fees equal to the ticket (or hopefully lower) just to keep the county from getting it and especially to keep it away from my insurance!

Given your monetary concerns, I believe that $15 extra for traffic school will, in the long run, be a worthwhile investment since it will hopefully help you save on increased insurance premiums which will, undoubtedly, be far more than a mere $15. Pay the $145 to go to traffic school and maximize your long-run benefit.
