If the home was deeded to you and your sister and your mother is living there as a tenant, then she cannot divest you of your ownership in the home. However, should your mother marry her live-in companion, he would have certain claims as a surviving spouse that, while they would not affect the home itself, might affect other assets that would otherwise pass to you. Why don't you contact a local lawyer in Muscle Shoals who practices Elder Law to get a one-hour consultation on these issues?
