How does one become a court appointed representative of an Estate?

In Alabama you accomplish it by following the statutes. If you mean how do you represent an estate where there is no will, you would have to petition the court, through an attorney, to be named Administrator. If there is a will and you are the executor/Personal Representative, again, you would petition the court, through an attorney, to be named as such. I suggest finding an attorney who handles probate matters in the county where the death occurred. Our Bar association has a referral system in place so you might start there.
