Legal Question in Workers Comp in Alabama

On the job injury or not

After 6 weeks off work, found out I had herniated disk. My job consists of lifting continuously (approximately 60 hours per week). My back started hurting at work and notified employer. However, they are going to deny benefits because I told a co-worker that my back popped in the shower that morning (and still does). I am seeing their workmans comp doctor. According to my doctor, herniated disks do not make noise. Should I pursue this through an attorney?

If your injury happened at work and the doctor will back you up on it, you should be entitled to workers' compensation. However, whether you employ an attorney is up to you. I may be biased, but I always recommend an attorney, especially in a workers' compensation situation, because it costs you nothing unless a recovery is made, and you only have to pay 15% by law in attorney's fees.
