Legal Question in Workers Comp in Alabama

returning to work on heavy pain medication

I am recieving workers compensation. I am taking heavy pain medication while waiting for my second surgery. My employer is pushing for me to return to work on light duty. The medication usually puts me to sleep and always makes me grogy. The medications warning label says to avoid driving and to avoid using heavy machinery. If my doctor allows me to return to light duty I will not be able to take my pain medication before or during work. What should I do?

Re: returning to work on heavy pain medication

It depends on what your doctor says. If your doctor thinks you can work on the medication, it's going to be tough to overcome the doctor. If the doctor thinks it is dangerous for you to work on the medication, you should not have to do so. If you do not like the way your doctor is handling the case, you may request a panel of four physicians.
