Legal Question in Consumer Law in Alaska

I bought a vehicle body from another person for the agreed amount of $800. I paid, he cashed check and there was no paperwork, only verbal agreement. He now wants an additional $700, for it. I am not willling to pay the extra amount, but will give back the body after he returns the $800. If I were to take him to court, and have him pay for my legal services, what would the chances be?

It appears that you have a fully performed agreement: you paid $800 and received the body.

He may be unhappy with that agreement, but that doesn't matter.

If you wnat to create a new agreement: that he buy the body back for $800, you had better get it in writing. Absent such an agreement, you don't have a case.
