Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Alaska

When a medical provider is given proper patient insurance information but fails to file with the insurance company within a timely manner is the patient held liable for the entire bill? The hospital has a long history of willing filing all necessary insurance forms. Now they maintain that is only done as a courtesy. Are past practices valid here? Sincerely GG

Yes, the patient is liable for the entire bill. A health care provider is not obligated to file insurance claims, and only does as a courtesy to patients.
