If you reside in any place other than California, please do not read this posting. I am only licensed to practice law in California.

California law is very complicated as to the paternity of a child. Depending on the facts of the case, you might have liability even if the children are not genetically related to you.

You will have the right to file a paternity action and request a genetic blood testing, if you have not already stipulated to a Judgment for Paternity or there is not a default judgment on Paternity. If you want to terminate parental relationship then the question is who is taking responsibility of the minor children as their father. Courts are not inclined to terminate parental relationship unless there is someone adopting the children or under some special circumstances (abandoment, . . . , best interest of the minor child. ... )If you need assitance you may cotact my office at 310-839-7700.
