Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Alaska

Can someone post billboards/signs along a public (state) road system that are directed at individuals in a very negative manner? These billboards could affect property sales and incomes of individuals mentioned. There are no basis other than personal dislike for the exsistance of these signs.

There may be laws governing placement, size, etc. of signs in general, if you are in an organized borough.

If it's a federal highway system road, signs are governed by the (federal) so-called Lady-Bird Johnson Act.

As far as your content-specific complaint, no, there is no law that regulates that, and any attempt at regulation would be suspect on constitutional grounds. If the content is libelous you could sue the person who put the sign up for defamation.
