Legal Question in Insurance Law in Alaska

Auto Isurance - Self Insured Companies

I was parked at my place of employment and a truck backed into my vehicle. Estimated damage (2)was $1730.-$1750. They only want to pay $650. and total the car out. I just want it fixed. The company who owns the truck is self-insured are they laible for fixing my car or should I settle for $650. My car is a 1987 Ford Taurus GL.

Re: Auto Isurance - Self Insured Companies

If you can find used car prices showing your car is worth more than the cost of repair, you have a very good claim to make them repair. If not, you still can try it. Sue in small claims if you are not satisfied. And you might also be entitled to rental value/loss of use, for the time your car is being repaired. It depends on the law in your state, but that is the general rule.
