Who Should Pay?
My apartment door has had problems freezing over due to structural problems in the building. A few weeks ago I could not get into my apartment and accidently broke the door while trying to get in. Now the realtor wants me to pay for the door. Yes, I broke it, but they did not keep their building in order and this is the result of their own neglect to fix this safety hazard problem. Who is at fault?

What is the damage amount (to repair or replace)?

Do you have renter's insurance?

DOes the LL have ins?

Get someone to give you a bid on how to properly and finally fix it and then use as a defense if they try to stick you with it.

UNless your were careless or negligent, you shouldn't be on the hook for it.
