''Don't the police,if asked have to admit that they are a police officer''?

When friend was confronted in a situation he was in he had asked the guy if he was a cop,siad: Yor not a police officer are you,?? He of course said no man! later after they exchanged goods of trade he was told that the man was a undercover police officer! I've seen on Cops yeah the T.V. show that they at times don't aadmitt the same way so is it or not a requirement?! thanx

What would be the point of undercover work if police had to admit they were police officers? No, they do NOT have to admit it if they are in fact undercover. If they are not undercover, they have to show identification, provide you with their badge numbers or be in uniform so that it's obvious they represent the government.
