renters free speech

my lanlord had me take down my presidential campaign signs that were hanging in my window. does this breech my first amendment rights?

Re: renters free speech

The First Amendment only limits the actions of the government and generally does not apply to private landlords. There may be other reasons why his actions were illegal (for example, if your lease specifies what kind of signs you can have and if your signs complied with the rules), but the First Amendment probably does not help you here.
