Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Arizona

I received a call from a collections agency on 9/11 stating that I needed to set up recurring payments to pay a medical bill or they would immediately process the paperwork to have this showing on my credit report. However, I first received a notice from them on 8/26. Shouldnt the collections agency wait at least 30 days to take those measures (i. e. how do they know Im not going to dispute it or that the charges are correct)? They want 20% down by tomorrow, 9/14. Is this practice in accordance with the law?

The collection agency does not have to wait to file their civil action. If you dispute the charges in writing, they have to provide you verification of the debt prior to taking any further collection action.

There is no statutory guidelines as to what percentage of the total due the collection agency can demand.
