Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

accident-leaving the scen

My partner has had his parents sign a petition for him to get help from crystal meth. Recently he had an accident where he lost control a the car hit a electircal pole and 2000 residents lost power for two hours. He panicked and left the scene, went home. Police picked him up next day and took him to phsyc. word for evaluation.

What can happen to him after the evaluation?

Today they evaluate him, what it the worst case scenario? Can he do time?

Re: accident-leaving the scen

Worst case is Defendant is found competent. Defendant is charged with Criminal Damage to Property and Leaving the Scene of An Accident. Incompetent Defendants are not liable for restitution. Prison is unlikely if handled properly and Defendant is without significant prior record or committed while on release.
