Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

I live in Arizona, and have been charged with Idenity Theft and am facing 4 years in prison. Here's what happened: I was being stalked by a lunatic and a friend gave me someone elses id to use, so went to the dmv and got a license under that name (they looked like me). Used the identity for about 6 years, and have some unpaid bills under this name. While in possession of this idenity, I was arrested for something unrelated, and when the judge asked about this other id, I told her the truth, and nothing else was said about it. I recently was cited for using false name on drivers license application in connection with this id, and went to court, paid fine. Now, I'm being charged with identity theft. How can this be? Have already made it clear that I would be willing to pay all outstanding debts that I may have under the other id. But I don't think I should go to prison for 4 years. Any advice?

You need to work with a lawyer... if you cannot afford you, use the public defender and get specific advice.

I agree with the other answer. We cannot address your questions online like this. You need to talk to your lawyer if you have one. If you don't then obtain one ASAP. Only he/she can adequately address your questions. Your lawyer will no the particular circumstances of your case.
