Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

I work for a large company. My job is to stop people from shoplifting. Every once in a while I am assulted and the suspect gets away. When this happens my boss will not let me call the police to report that I have been punched, kicked, pepper sprayed and more, even when I get the licence plate number. Is this legal to stop some one from reporting a crime with the treat of dismissal??

I assume you mean threat of dismissal. But anyway I'm not sure if your job description includes being a human punching bag for thieves and potential thieves. If you are assaulted, it seems you can report that to the police or sue privately for your injuries. It's not like you're a police officer/public servant who signs up for the risk of such abuse.

Also, your employer can't hold a threat of dismissal over you. What are they afraid of anyway?
