Legal Question in Elder Law in Arizona

my 80 year old father has been drinking daily for the last year and a half. he just received his second dui about 2 months ago while totaling a second vehicle. he has fallen several times(due to drinking) and has been in the emergency room numerous times sometimes with concussions. he barely eats if anything and has lost a lot of weight( he is way to thin). he says he can stop but just cannot. one more fall may be his last. what can my mother and/or sister and myself do to save him before it's too late?

It is a difficult thing to do, but you, your sister and your Mom must team up and intervene with him. If he refuses to listen and change his ways, then you or one of you, should immediately file an application to be appointed guardian and conservator. He is clearly a risk of harm to himself and to others, and unless he stops drinking, he should not be driving at all. He will probably fight since he thinks he is just fine, but then it is up to the court, based upon the evidence presented, including a medical evaluation, to determine if he needs someone to manage his affairs, personally and financially.
