Legal Question in Entertainment Law in Arizona

Executive Producer's Rights

I am trying to research the legal rights of an executive producer. The definitions/explanations I have received previously are very generic and vague. What exactly does an executive producer legal have a right to do in regards to a movie? (view all schedules, expense reports, scripts, trailers, contracts made with investors, contracts made with actors and crew members, etc?)

Re: Executive Producer's Rights

I don't practice in this area, but since nobody else has responded in two days, I'll go ahead and tell you what I think the law may be.

I think that the rights of the EP would depend on the contract between the EP and the other parties. If there is no contract with the EP, then I think partnership law would apply. Absent an agreement to the contrary, all partners to a partnership have the right to act on behalf of the partnership.
