Child support is calculated based on a statutory formula that takes into consideration some specific factors. These factors include (but are not limited to): the parents' incomes (including spousal maintenance paid/received); the cost of child care; the cost of the children's health insurance; and the parenting time schedule exercised by the parents. If the children have special or extraordinary needs, the expenses related to those needs can also be considered in the calculation.
