Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

moving out of state

I divorced in December 1991. My divorce papers state that I must live less than 200 miles from my ex-husband and that I can not without his written consent. I would like to attend medical school in another state such as California, Oregon, or Washington. The children are now twelve (boy) and ten (girl). What are my rights if I'm accepted to medical school elsewhere? Does my son have a right to choose where he lives if his dad pushes that issue. I have full time custody and have been very active in my children's lives. In comparison, their father sees them one weekend a month and participates little in their lives. Please let me know if I have a leg to stand on. Thanks, Stuck in Arizona!

Re: moving out of state

You would have to go back to court to seek its approval for the move and then would probably but not necessarily be permitted to move to attend medical school. the odds are good that the request would be granted. Please call 1-800-677-1010 or [email protected] for a $75.00 phone consultation. Keith Knochel.
