Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

Hello, I have physical custody of our 16yr old. She would like to get a job. Also I receive child support for her. Is she able to get a job? If so, how many hrs per week? We live in Arizona. Thanks.

I cannot answer this with 100% accuracy without seeing if there are any specific terms in your custody agreement that change my advice, but more than likely it is fine for her to get a job. Especially if she is going to keep the money. It will probably teacher her valuable life skills to have a job at that age.

Unless your court orders say otherwise, this is merely a parenting decision. If you have "joint legal", the decision should me made together with both parents. Also, there can be issues created if the employment affects the other parent's access.

We can certainly help you consider and then pursue your options.

One of our attorneys can explain the issues and procedures better in person. As you can imagine, there is too much to cover via email. We offer free 1/2 hour consultations, in which we can discuss your matter in detail.

Please call us directly to discuss the specifics of your matter, or contact my assistant Paige or my paralegal Jennifer to schedule your free 1/2 hour consultation.
